Job Description:

SUMMARY

The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of the dietary regime of the community residence. This includes planning of a healthy menu for all food consumption not limited to shopping for food, cooking/serving and oversight of the pantry stock. The Nutrition Coordinator will teach cooking skills to residents by group activity and individual hands-on cooperative teaching. They will also work with the RN to ensure the menu meets the age group dietary needs and also meets any resident’s specific dietary needs such as allergies or other food related ailments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors food inventory and expiration dates, including managing of refrigerator foods do not exceed expirations.

Creates the menu and shops for items.

Performs goal work related to nutrition and food consumption, food shopping, meal planning and cooking goals.

Prepares daily meals and snacks, including food preparation for weekends.

Provides training and healthy meal planning/cooking groups.

Participates with input in activities that will promote a healthy lifestyle.

With the guidance of the RN will closely monitor specific food requirements or needs for specific residents and be aware of allergies.

Other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition or related field; Associates and/or comparable experience in nutrition and dietary planning considered. Additional skills, experience and/or training working with children/adolescents in the mental health field a plus.
