The work involves responsibility for performing a variety of professional nursing tasks involved in client care. The work is performed in collaboration with medical staff under the supervision of the or PNP. The Clinic Nurse will exercise independent judgment in carrying out the assigned daily work load. Develops and implements intervention protocols for client care. Performs a variety of direct and indirect client care including assisting with the provision of biopsychosocial care to all individuals of the outpatient clinic. This position may require use of personal vehicle to transport clients when an agency vehicle is not available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides professional psychiatric nursing services as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
Acts as a support to the PNP and RN
Facilitates the quality assurance and utilization review programs by auditing charts establishing tracking systems and maintaining a schedule of case reviews;
Maintains contact with community agencies as a health professional on the interdisciplinary treatment team;
Escribes and maintains accurate prescription records for each client.
Completes accurate inventory of medication room quarterly with RN
Completes comprehensive health evaluations.
Recording of prescriptions in medication records.
Monitors and documents routine vital signs.
Complete urine drug screen per psychiatrist or PNP orders
Maintains a high level of confidentiality of all information managed.
Follow direction from a licensed Registered Nurse on staff.
Follows agency policies and procedures in all program areas;
Other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Possession of a current license and registration as a Professional Nurse in New York State and possession of a current New York State certification as either a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with a minimum of 6 months psychiatric experience, including experience with developmentally delayed, geriatric and co-occurring disorder clients.
